Perioral Dermatitis: Oil Cleansing method
Hey Folks! I’ve been using the oil cleansing method since October 2013 so I can safely say that it works 100% for me and my fussy skin. When I have a bad breakout I love how the moisture from the oil soothes my dry flaky skin and gives it a much needed boost of hydration. My oil of choice is Grapeseed, it’s a dry oil meaning it easily aborb’s into the skin and doesn’t clog pores. Its anti-inflammatory and has Vitamin E that helps with anti-aging. It keeps your skin soft and improves elasticity.

For the record I have tried both coconut oil and olive oil on my face when I ran out of grapeseed and both oils broke me out. They are too heavy and comedogenic meaning they clog pores and cause acne. Before starting to use the oil cleansing method taking off my makeup in the evening was a bit of a chore. Now I look forward to it, I just slap on some oil, rub my skin and remove with my reusable cotton round. It’s also amazing at removing waterproof mascara so win win. The grapeseed oil I am currently using is from Neal’s Yard Remedies , it’s a beautiful oil. I should add its important to use an oil formulated for skin, not a food grade oil. Using a food oil can work fine in the beginning but it is heavier and can clog your pores over time. It’s worth spending a little bit extra and your skin will thank you for it. Do you use the oil cleansing method? if so what do you use? do tell!
