Perioral Dermatitis & Bentonite Clay
Bentonite Clay is an amazing natural mask treatment for anyone with Perioral Dermatitis or without. When I see the first signs of a PD breakout, those small little blisters starting to form I slap on a mask. The clay pulls any toxins and impurities from the skin and helps dry out those blisters. Never try to squeeze or pop those PD blisters as you can actually help spread the infection around your face. It’s really good at drawing out acne blemishes so they don’t last as long.

Do not let your bentonite clay come in contact with anything metal, like a metal spoon for example. This will reduce the effectiveness, I use a glass jar and a wooden spoon. I mix clay and water together to make a paste and then apply a layer. As the clay begins to dry you will start to feel your face pulsate. This means the mask is starting to work, I leave it on for 20 mins or until I can see that it is completely dry. I always moisturise well after doing a clay mask as it can dry out your skin. Expect your face to look red after a mask that is from the circulating and pulsating working its magic. The bentonite clay I use is from Laila London but I can see they have discontinued it. Here is a link to an Irish brand based in Dublin that does a detox mask Oxmantown. Have you ever tried a clay mask?
